About

cancer care corner

Hello! My name is Kylie Richter and I am the founder of CancerCareCorner. I am a Senior in high school, and I’m very passionate about everything related to breast cancer. Since as long as I can remember, cancer has hovered over my family like a constant shadow, unwelcome but familiar. My mom has twice won battles against breast cancer – at only 30 and 35 years of age. Her sister (my Aunt Wendy) was diagnosed at age 38, 3 weeks before my mom, and they were having chemotherapy and radiation at the same time.

At only 15, I had my own scare. I was determined to stay positive and met this challenge with strength and hope. Fortunately, while just a few words might have completely changed the course of my then 15-year-old life, my diagnosis was thankfully benign. However, this experience made me want to live more intentionally and do more to fight this terrible disease.

All these events led to the birth of CancerCareCorner. My hope is that this website will be a place where survivors, caregivers, family and friends can comfortably go to learn about different facets of breast cancer, read latest developments, or smile hearing about some inspiring stories or reading uplifting quotes. Starting my own website has allowed me to share knowledge, which I believe is the best, most powerful weapon against this disease. I want people to always have hope.

I began advocating at only 10, when I participated in a YouTube documentary with my mom and several other members of my community about our experiences with breast cancer. You can view this video below in the Inspiration section of the website and look for me at 2:04!

Fundraising is also very important to me, as more money is desperately needed for research. I continue to raise money for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, an organization that gives 100% of its donated funds to research, and I would love it if you can contribute to my current fundraiser in honor of my 18th birthday. Together, we can raise funds to ensure that one day no one will have to die from breast cancer. Please use the donate link on the home page to support this cause.

I’ll continue championing this cause throughout my life and thank you for visiting. Xoxo Kylie
